Worthy of Celebration–May 2015

Our Worthy of Celebration moments for May 2015

Way to go Ava Parker on being named the new president of Palm Beach State College. She is the first female president in the history of the college and will be leading Palm Beach State through its plans to open a fifth campus in Loxahatchee Groves. Kristin Keen

What an honor for our friend Kristin Keen on being named one of Jacksonville Business Journal’s 40 under 40. Kristin is the founder and director of Rethreaded and has been working to end the exploitation of women in Jacksonville since 2012. “I can’t believe that I was chosen to be in the top 40 under 40! What an honor to be in such esteemed company of some great business leaders in our community.” Click here to see the official announcement on the Rethreaded website.

Margie Arion

Margie Arion is doing great things in her new position as chief human resources officer at Acosta Sales & Marketing. In this position, Arion is responsible for the development and oversight of human resources strategy including talent acquisition, performance management, organizational development and learning, human resource systems and employee relations. Click here for her complete bio.

We are sure the room was filled with passion and purpose when Generation W speaker Pamela Culpepper, chief people officer for Golin, took the stage as the keynote speaker at the 2015 ATHENA Grand Traverse Award Celebration on April 29th. The celebration is a community gathering to honor those who have demonstrated a continued desire to create and foster leadership opportunities for women. Follow their Facebook page for great photos from the event.

Our very own Jacksonville International Airport was just ranked the third best airport in North America by the Airports Council International. The award was based on surveys of passengers passing through the airport. In 2012 and 2013, JIA was ranked fifth. You can read more about this honor in the Jacksonville Business Journal.

Deb Walton_home

We are so proud of Generation W speaker Deb Walton, Chief Content Officer, Financial & Risk for Thomson Reuters, on being selected as Thomson Reuters Woman of Vision. This honor is part of the Anita Borg Institute’s Women of Vision initiative that emphasizes the need for women and men to see role models as an example of what’s possible and as an inspiration to excel in their own careers.

Hogshead-Makar 2014.1x_cropped

As a keynote speaker for the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders, Nancy Hogshead-Makar is certainly in good company. Past speakers include thought-leaders like Chelsea Clinton and Lilly Ledbetter. Hogshead-Makar will be taking the stage on Saturday, May 30th and we are certain everyone will be inspired by her commitment to equality and using sport as a vehicle for social change.
