Rethreaded Launches Partnership with Southwest

Rethreaded and Southwest AirlinesOur friends at Rethreaded, a Jacksonville nonprofit that gives human trafficking survivors employment by making products such as handbags and jewelry, have recently announced a partnership with Southwest Airlines. “Southwest is modeling how to use business for good,” Rethreaded founder (and Generation W speaker) Kristin Keen said in an interview with Jacksonville.com. “The partnership gives Rethreaded the exposure we need to grow and have more sales, which will allow us to change more lives.”

Through the partnership, Southwest sent Rethreaded “nearly 30 pallets of leather from old airline seats” that will be used to make a new product line, giving the 15 employees at Rethreaded the opportunity to learn new skills.  “We have women running our social media and product line, so they’ll get practical business skills,” she said. “The women making the products will work with leather and learn a whole new skill set.”
