PGA Supports Role Golf Plays for Women in Business World
Earlier this week, while pro golfers were practicing for the 97th PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, 70 women from the Wisconsin area gathered to participate in an exclusive professional development experience, “Beyond the Green: Elevating Exceptional Women.” The event included panel discussions, networking opportunities and a behind-the-scenes and inside-the-ropes tour of the grounds led by one of last year’s Generation W presenters Suzy Whaley, PGA/LPGA, Secretary, PGA of America.
“We’re thrilled to have hosted a day of engaging panels with leaders who carried the conversation about business growth, professional development, and how golf fits perfectly with this process,”said Sandy Cross, Senior Director of Diversity & Inclusion for the PGA of America. “It’s important that the golf industry invites women to learn and play the game, and events like Beyond the Green showcase the role golf has played in the personal and professional lives of these leaders. The growth of the sport depends on welcoming women to the game.”
Panelists and moderators included Van Adams, President, VanAdams Sports Group; Jill Close, Consumer Segment Lead, Harley-Davidson Motor Company; J. Kelly Hoey, Strategist & Investor, jkellyhoey.co; Donna Orender, CEO, Orender Unlimited; Joni Lockridge, Director, Digital Strategy, PGA of America; Nancy Henderson, Chief Teaching Officer, LPGA and President, LPGA Foundation; Teresa Zamboni, Top 50 LPGA Reaching Professional and 2007 LPGA Teacher of the Year; Kalynn Dolby, PGA, Assistant/Teaching Professional, Mascoutin Golf Club; and Paul LoCicero, PGA, Head Golf Professional, The Legend at Bristlecone.
Scott Eblin, Co-Founder and President of The Eblin Group and author of Overworked and Overwhelmed: The Mindfulness Alternative provided the keynote address. Elbin encouraged the group to ‘show up at your best’ and take advantage of mindfulness in every day life – at home, work and community.
