Mom’s Best Advice

In honor of this weekend’s Mother’s Day celebration, we asked our Generation W community to share with us some of the best advice mom has ever given to them.  Here are some nuggets of “mom said” gold–do any of these sound familiar?

“If you can’t say anything nice – don’t say anything at all. Actually – that may be the worst advice she ever gave but I would be alot more popular in the South had I listened.”

“When it’s all said and done it’s between you and your God.  What can you live with?”

“Do not sit too long in your sadness.  Eventually, you have to keep moving forward.”

“You don’t have to be married to have nice things.”

“Always wear lipstick.”

“Make your own money–even if you don’t think you have to, make your own money.”

“People will judge you by the friends you keep.”

“Never wear other people’s shoes.  Of course, I thought that was horrible advice once I got to college and had 3 roommates with the same shoe size.”

“You must own the choices you make.  Make sure they are always good ones.”

“You are only as happy as your saddest child.  Now that I’m a mom, I know this is the truest of statements.”
