Jacksonville and Equal Pay

In a new report from Abodo, the wage gap currently sits at just over 21 percent with Durham-Chapel Hill, NC, showing the most equal pay and Provo, UT, taking the bottom spot in pay equality.  So, where does Jacksonville fall?

Our friends at the Jacksonville Business Journal dug deep into this study to uncover some information specific to our community.  Here are the findings:

  • Out of the 100 metropolitan statistical areas surveyed Jacksonville ranks 49th.
  • Jacksonville ranks higher than the national average for equal pay with women earning 80 cents on the dollar compared to men.
  • The median annual income for Jacksonville women is about $37,000 with men earning about $46,500.
  • Other Florida communities that rank above the national average in median income: Deltona-Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach, and North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton.
