Get In Touch Foundation Teaches Students About Breast Health

196Wonderful Voice of America feature on the Get In Touch Foundation, a global non-profit breast health organization founded by Gen W speaker Mary Ann Wasil, who has been a breast cancer survivor and activist since 2004.

In the article, Mary Ann is at an inner city high school in Los Angeles talking to students about breast health and breast cancer–and introducing them to an educational tool called a daisy wheel, “a small instructional device designed in the shape of the flower that teaches them how to do self exams and encourages medical screenings if they find anything abnormal.”  This educational program was inspired by Wasil’s efforts to educate her own children about the disease (they were 10, 12 & 13 when she was diagnosed at age 39) and is now in 26 countries.
