5 Steps to Finding Your Passion

5752191750_0eb4311ea1_zAs we continue to prepare for Generation W 2015, we found the Ultimate Guide to Finding Your Passion (after all, the theme of GenW 2015 is “Passion and Purpose”) an interesting article.  While there is a lot of great info packed into this post, here are 5 things you can do now to find your passion:

“You could call this listening to your wisdom, your heart, your calling, or even God.  The label is unimportant.”  What is important is that you pay attention to the “positive pulls of life”–taking action from a negative state of mind will lead you to make rash and, many times, careless decisions.

Start Small
“Instead of thinking big, think small.  Follow the breadcrumbs of life.  Be practical.  Have a goal if you want to.  But live line one second at a time.”  Doing too much too soon will make you feel overwhelmed and frustrated.

Start Now
There is no time like the present.  “If you don’t know where to start, start anywhere.  If you don’t know what your pass is, start experimenting.”  As you take action, you’ll begin to see what makes sense or not.

Stop Trying to Figure It Out
“It seems logical to figure things out.  But the truth is that figuring things out gets in the way of figuring things out.”  If you are truly living into the positive pulls of life, you don’t need to see the end of the road before you start the journey.

Keep Adjusting
“Living a passionate life is about realizing that life is not fixed.  Passion is not an object you can find and put in your pocket.”  As life changes, so do you.  Be flexible in your thinking, your strategy, your thought processes–knowing that whatever life throws your way, you can handle it–and still keep your passion in place.
