3rd Annual Generation WOW Conference Set for November 4

logo_GenerationWOW-TMOn Wednesday, Nov. 4, hundreds of Jacksonville’s teen girls will begin the Generation WOW journey, a unique opportunity designed to connect the leaders of tomorrow with the outstanding women leaders of today. The adventure begins in one inspiring, life-changing afternoon and continues with mentorship opportunities throughout the following calendar year. Generation WOW is one of Generation W’s cornerstone events, taking place for the 3rd time at UNF’s Robinson Theater.

Generation WOW programming focuses on the teenage girl, teaching the lessons of the positive and the possible through a yearlong mentorship program where girls are encouraged to realize their potential and their place in this world. The connection between successful women and driven teen leaders is significant, and it propels Generation W’s overarching vision of empowering women in every stage of life. Generation WOW believes that unlocking the potential of our youth, particularly young women, is to society’s collective betterment.

“Generation WOW is based on the belief that when people come together, especially women and girls, magic happens,” said Donna Orender, Generation W’s founder. “It’s about creating opportunities that help build the future leaders of the world by exposing them to the leaders of today. The goal of Generation WOW is to provide a trusted and inspiring experience that will forge relationships, inspire dreams and deliver results that will enhance lives.”

This year’s theme is “Make a Difference & Be a Difference,” and a docket of outstanding speakers including Florida State Representative Mia Jones, former WNBA player Simone Edwards, Police Lieutenant Lakesha Burton and Cassie Sadowitz, the deputy general counsel for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is set to inspire and build confidence in participants. Following the afternoon’s programming, mentors and mentees will participate in the special Geraldine Mentor Walk, founded by Geraldine Laybourne, a leading advocate on behalf of girls, and hosted in over 40 countries. The walk is an opportunity to build intergenerational connections and provide access to a mentor network for the future.

“Generation WOW has impacted my life and I will never forget it,” said Generation WOW 2014 participant Isabella Nolan, 14. “It was like a big pep talk where there was so much positivity. My mentor is so open and makes me laugh. She gives great advice and is such a determined and strong woman who I hope to be like one day.”

Generation WOW is sponsored by Florida Blue, Ernst & Young, Natural Life, Pepsico and the Remmer Family Foundation. For more information or to register as a student or mentor, visit www.GenWowNow.com.
