Oscar Suarez, Florida/Puerto Rico Markets Leader, Ernst & Young
Oscar is the Markets Leader for Florida/Puerto Rico, overseeing all services provided by EY in Florida (Miami, Boca Raton, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville and Tallahassee) and in Puerto Rico. Prior to this position, he was the Markets Leader for South Florida and the Miami Office Managing Partner (OMP). Prior to becoming OMP, Oscar served as a Partner in the Americas Integrating Practices. As such, he was responsible for integrating the Tax practices of EY in Latin America to the Americas Tax Practice of EY.
Oscar has 32 years of public accounting experience, all of it based in South Florida. He has extensive experience in handling large multinational and SEC type engagements, both from a federal tax and international service-line perspective.
Oscar served as a member of EY’s Americas Diversity and Inclusiveness Council as well as co-chair of the Southeast Region Diversity and Ethnicity Committee. He currently serves as the EY representative to the ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals in Accounting and Finance) Corporate Advisory Board. He has also served as a member of the Americas Tax Partner Advisory Forum.
Oscar graduated from St. Thomas University, Summa Cum Laude (1981). He is a certified public accountant and a member of the Florida and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Oscar is a Trustee Member of the Miami United Way and the incoming Campaign Chair for 2013/14. He is a Board member of the Florida International University Foundation. Oscar was a Founding member of the School of Business Corporate Advisory Board at Florida International University as well as a Founding member of the School of Accounting Corporate Advisory Board at the University of Miami.
He has been married 31 years to his wife, Noryn, and has three children.
