Karen Feagins Director of Programming and News Operations, WJCT Public Broadcasting
Karen Feagins is the Director of Programming and News Operations at WJCT Public Broadcasting.
In this role, Karen is responsible for creating the programming strategy for 89.9 WJCT-FM and supervising and developing a team of hosts, journalists and volunteers. She also manages the planning, production and presentation of the news on WJCT’s multiple platforms. Since taking the job last year, Karen has launched the station’s news website, WJCTNews.org and spearheaded the acquisition of the national public radio program, State of the Re:Union.
Karen found her home in public broadcasting after working for several years as a commercial television reporter. She joined WJCT in 2005 as the host of 89.9 FM’s Morning Edition and has also served as a television producer, Executive Content Producer and Director of Programming & Production at WJCT. She has written and produced documentaries for both radio and television including Beluthahatchee: The Legacy of Stetson Kennedy and Jacksonville Beach: Against the Tide and directed the oral history project, Voices of the First Coast.
Karen holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from The University of Missouri and lives in Jacksonville with her two daughters.
