Dr. Elana Schrader, Chief Medical Officer, Florida Blue

Dr. Elana Schrader, an internal medicine physician by training, is the Chief Medical Officer of GuideWell Mutual Holding Corporation, a 12 billion dollar, Jacksonville-based health solutions organization and the parent company to Florida Blue. In this role, Schrader has accountability for the overarching clinical strategy and all clinical programs including population health, complex care, pharmacy, and quality management for 4 million Florida Blue members.

Since joining Florida Blue, Schrader has served in a number of innovative and transformational leadership roles, both clinical and non-clinical. Most recently, she was Vice President of Product and led the design and development of innovative health solutions and the management of the product portfolio for commercial business.

Schrader is active in civic and community organizations. Recently named an honoree for the Jacksonville Business Journal’s 2016 Women of Influence, Elana is a graduate of the 2007 class of Leadership Jacksonville, has served as Florida Blue’s executive leader of the Women’s Initiative Network, and was the 2015 and 2016 chairperson for the American Cancer Society’s Jacksonville Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. Elana is a member of the Dean’s Council of the University of North Florida Brooks College of Health, and is active in the United Way, as a member of the Tocqueville Society and a mentor in the Stein Fellowship Program.

Schrader holds a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College of Columbia University. She received her medical training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and trained in internal medicine at The New York Hospital of Cornell Medical College and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian College of Medicine and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business, class of 2011.
