Andrea Mail, Community Builder
A native of Irving, Texas, Andrea Shlipak Mail is a graduate of Harvard University with honors in Social Anthropology. She received her Master’s degree from the University of London in Religious Education.
From 1988-89, she was a Rotary International Ambassadorial Fellow to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Andrea later to Jerusalem as a Wexner Fellow to Hebrew Union College’s Rabbinical program.
In 1993, Andrea married Steven Mail of Glasgow, Scotland.
Andrea & Steven initially resided in Paris, France, then moved to London, England where their three daughters (Sabrina, Zoe and Jasmine) were born.
In London, Andrea served as Executive Director for the British Friends of Hebrew University.
Since moving to Jacksonville in 2004, Andrea has volunteered extensively for non-profit organizations. She serves on the boards of the Jewish Federation and Jewish Foundation; chairs the Galinsky Academy Development Committee and is Vice-Chair for the Create a Jewish Legacy Steering Committee.
A visionary leader, Andrea played an instrumental role in helping Jacksonville’s Martin J. Gottlieb Day School transition from a traditional educational institution to one that is recognized internationally for its innovative curriculum.
Andrea is a certified life coach and has presented segments on the positive benefits of social media for the television show First Coast Living.
Andrea’s Facebook posts on family life led to her being invited to participate in a symposium on the challenges of modern parenting at her recent 25th reunion at Harvard University.
Hobbies include: playing on the JCA’s tennis team, practicing yoga, reading, travelling with her family to exotic places (they’ve been to 70 countries) and ‘connecting’ people.
