Betsy Nilan graduated from the University of Virginia in 2013 with her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. She was a member of the UVA Varsity Women’s Rowing Team for four years, was team captain her senior year, and helped contribute to 2 NCAA Championship wins in 2010 and 2012.

She then went on to graduate from Southern Connecticut State University with her Master’s Degree in Women’s Studies in May of 2016. Her thesis was on the BRCA genetic mutation and how patriarchal society reacts to women getting tested and then acting upon positive results.

Betsy Nilan is a founding board member of The Get In Touch Foundation, a global breast health non-profit focused on teaching guys and gals of all ages on the importance of breast health through their Girls’ Program and Daisy Wheel, and stepped up as President in April of 2016 after her mother, and Founder of Get In Touch, Mary Ann Wasil, passed away.

In her free time, she loves to talk to young women and girls about feminism and breast health, and continues dying her hair pink in her mother’s honor.
